A proton moving in a straight line enters a strong magnetic field along the direction of field line.How is the path and velocity changes?

Answer Explanation

The proton will experience no force as the direction of its velocity is parallel to the direction of the magnetic field.

In a general the force experienced by any charged particle is given by
F=q (V X B) where q = charge of particle.

V = vector representing velocity of proton
B= magnetic field induction vector
and X represents cross product of the two vectors.

The magnitude of the force is zero when the direction of the magnetic field is parallel to the velocity of the proton. So the path and velocity of the proton do not change.
