A ball of mass m hits a floor with a speed v making an angle of inclination alpha  with the normal .the coefficient of restitution is e .find the speed of the reflected ball and angle of reflection.

Answer Explanation


After striking the floor, the horizontal component of the ball's velocity remains the same while the vertical component gets multiplied by e in the opposite direction.


Therefore, the magnitude of the velocity of the ball after striking the floor is ((vsin?)2 + (evcos?)2)1/2


The angle made by the final velocity of the ball with the horizontal is tan? = vsin?/evcos? = tan?/e.
