Doubt & Answer Explanation

Doubt

the no of oxygen atoms present in 2 moles of a compound, which consists of a bivalent metal and a pechlorate ion

Answer Explanation

A perchlorate ion is ClO4-. (valency 1).

Le the metal be M. Then, since it has a valency 2, the formula of the compound will be M(ClO4)2

As you can see, one molecule of the compound has 8 oxygen atoms, so 2 moles or 2 x 6.023 x 1023 molecules of the compound will have 2 x 6.023 x 1023 x 8 = 9.6368 x 1024 atoms of oxygen.
