Doubt & Answer Explanation

Doubt

how to find the bond angles in a hybridised bond?
  bond angle for NH3=107'

Answer Explanation

sp hybridisation; linear shape; bond angles are  180°

sp2 hybridisation; trigonal planar shape; bond angles are 120°

sp3 hybridisation; tetrahedral shape; bond angles are 109.5°

Now, depending on the molecule these bond angles are lesser or greater than the expected values because of different effects.

For example, the bond angle in ammonia is less than the expected 109.5o because the lone pair causes the molecule to become "bent" which makes the bond angles less than 109.5
