what is the relation between T1, T2 and T3 ?

Answer Explanation

If the pulley is massless then the tension in the same string will be the same, so T₁ = T₂.
(You can prove this by putting the net torque around the axle of the pulley to be zero because of the tension forces T₁ and T₂).

Applying Newton's second law, we have,

m₃g - T₃ = m₃ a

T₃ - T₂ = m₂a

T₂ - m₁g = m₁a (As T₁ = T₂)

Adding all these equations, we get:

a = (m₃-m₁)g/(m₁+m₂+m₃)

So, T₃ = m₃(g-a) and T₂ = m₁(g+a)

So T₂ can be greater than T₃ or lesser depending on the values of m₁ and m₃.
