Answer Explanation

The figure below represents the forces on the ladder.

Balancing forces in the horizontal and vertical direction, we get:

N₁ = f and N₂ = 200

Now the angle made by the ladder with the horizontal direction is 70.53^o (since cos of the angle is 1/3).

Torque about the centre of mass of the ladder = 0.

Hence, N₁(1.5sin70.53^o) + f
(1.5sin70.53^o) = N₂(1.5cos70.53^o)

Solving these equations, you can get N₁ and f.
