By the time you guys will read this article, most of you must be in the festive mood for the new year celebrations. The eventful 2009 has come to an end paving its way for 2010 . Its time to take a lesson from 2009 and to take a resolution to amend those in the New Year. A new year always come with a ray of hope and change . most of you are in the most significant year of your academic career . So the New Year could be one of the most memorable year of your career. It’s the time to reap the fruits of your hard labour . Many of you have watched a 1500 meter Olympic race . The race consists four laps > the winner builds his stamina in the first three laps and give his best shot in the final lap . This holds true for students as well . You must have spent countless hours to develop your skills for problem solving in the last one and half years . Now it’s the time to move at the top speed to make most out of it . We will discuss the ways to make maximum benefits in next year.
· NEW YEAR RESOLUTION: The new year must start with a resolution, remember a killer extinct is necessary for a power packed performance.
· PROPER PLANNING: A proper planning must be done in the first week of January for the entire year . A god planning gives a very good start to your preparation .
· EXECUTION : Remember , planning is the best way to get things started but execution is the only way to get things done. Only planning not going to help . You must be serious for proper execution of your plans.
· SAY NO TO NEW TOPICS : For students going to appear in various competitive exams , they are advised not to study a new topic which they have not done earlier. You don’t need to secure 100% to get good rank, so a selective approach is not bad .But students must be good at topics they have studied . Remember the jack of all trades master of none is not going to help . So, there is no point learning a new topic in the last fifteen days of the exam. Last days are meant only for revesion.
· REVISION : A fixed portion of the day must be kept for subject wise revision .
· MOCK TEST : If a cricket player is taught all the technicalities of a square cut or straight drive , Do you think he will perform good at the final match ?
Before trying a new medicine on human beings , they are first tested on rodents . Similarly , before appearing into examination you must attempt numerous mock tests.
· TOUGH PROBLEM COPY : You must have a separate copy for problem which were not solved at the mock test . So , before examination you will have a bank of questions for effective revision . This is very effective tool for revision but practiced by only few students.
We will discuss more on various ways to revise and methods to counter examination anxiety in the coming articles . Remember the words from the movie released last week – 3 IDIOTS , You should be well educated rather well trained . success will follow your steps. I advise the students to emphasize more on concepts rather than remembering the way a numerical is solved. May the New year bring happiness and wisdom .
Happy New Year !!!
