Besides IIT-JEE and AIEEE, WBJEE or the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is the third in the league for most number of students taking the entrance examination. The basic purpose of the exam is the selection of candidates for admission to the state colleges of West Bengal on the basis of the results of a single competitive exam, which would also lead to saving time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at a number of tests.

Design of the question paper
The examination will consist of the following papers)Mathematics(100 marks) ii)Physics(50 marks)(iii)Chemistry (50 marks).There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ-type, with four options including single correct answer) carrying 80% weight age of the total marks and remaining 20% will be of short answer type. In MCQ type, for each incorrect response, 33.33% of mark would be deducted.
The exam will be conducted in two shifts. One shift will be dedicated to both the Physics and the Chemistry subject. The other shift will be totally dedicated to Mathematics.
COUNSELLING:
Only the candidates who are merit listed on the basis of their performance in WBJEE are eligible for counselling.
Level of questions
The questions of this Exam follow the AIEEE pattern and are similar or a bit simpler to the AIEEE questions.
