BITS PILANI ADMISSION - The BITSAT Exam
Last week we discussed about entrance in various NITs through AIEEE , this week we will have discussion on BITSAT – the entrance examination for admission in Birla Institute of Technology and Science more commonly known as BITS (Pilani , Goa , and Hyderabad campus). At times it is said in technical fraternity that it is ahead of time or the future of engineering entrance examination in India . The reason behind this is its being online . BITS was the only online engineering entrance examination till date, AIEEE has also followed the league for first few students.
• Eligiblity – Only those students are eligible for BITSAT who have secured an aggregate of minimum 80% in Physics , chemistry and Mathematics in class XII and minimum of 60% in each of Physics , Chemistry and Mathematics. Also , only those students who have passed the class XII board examination on or after 2009 are eligible for application .
• Selection : The selection is based on score in online examination .
• Direct Admission to board toppers : The students who have obtained first rank in their respective board examination are given direct admission to the program of their choice

Syllabus for BITSAT 2011
The BITSAT-2011 test will be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabusfor 11th and 12th class.BITS website http://www.bitsadmission.com/bitsat/bitsatmain.htm, has a sample test available. You should visit the site and have a look at the pattern.
Marking Scheme for BITSAT 2011
The students are awarded 3 marks for correct option and 1 for wrong option. No marks are awarded for unattempted questions.If the student attempts all the 150 questions , then extra 12 questions are given .This gives an edge to meritous students.
How to apply for BITS Admissiom or the BITSAT Exam
BITS form is avaialable at www.bitsadmission.com. Take a printout, Fill it and send it to the admissions officer, BITS PILANI. Fee is Rs 1500/-(Rs 1000/- for female candidates).
