The countdown for IIT-JEE has begun . IIT JEE committee has decided to conduct the exam on 11thApril 2010. This time IIT JEE committee has introduced online application along with the old system of procuring forms from the banks.
I remember an incident when one of student was skeptical of the online application system.He was afraid of was loosing his form and was not confident in online payment. But the fact of the matter is that the online application procedure is equally safe and at times better than the traditional process. The students don’t have to wait in long queues to get the form and they donsinglequotet have to procure the forms from illegal vendors at higher rates as well. The intentions of IIT JEE is noble . They are trying to end the nexus between the form vendors and corrupt officials. We should always appreciate this change. GRE–TOEFL are following this for a longtime . KVPY (Kishore Vygyanik Protshan Yojna), Olympiads all follow the same process. Even CAT has followed the same track .
Another news that made the headlines a few days ago was the comment by our Honorable Union HRD minister Mr.Kapil Sibbal . Many media group published the news of minimum criteria of 80%for applying in IIT JEE. After a large hue n cry he clarified that it was just a proposal . He was misquoted and this will not be implemented in IIT JEE2010.Does the IIT JEE have lost its faith in the selection process . The 60%cutoff is appropriate and instead of changing the cutoff , they should make the pattern more friendly for students appearing in their boards.
When ever I am asked the most necessary criteria to make it to the IITs, I have a stereotyped reply. It does not matter how much you cover but how much you revise. The important aspect of your preparation is the number of answers replied correctly in the examination. This number can only be increased if you start revising at an early stage. You know you have early bird prizes everywhere. This holds true for IITs as well. The more you retain, the more you perform .In our next article we will discuss more on revision .
